Letter
of Condolence sent to Her Majesty Queen Beatrix
The
members of the Royal Air Forces Association (RAFA) Amsterdam Branch were
shocked and saddened by the news of the death of our Patron, His Royal
Highness Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands, who was loved and highly
respected by all members of the RAFA. It is my sad duty to convey to you
my condolences and those of my members at this great loss to all of us.
His
Royal Highness was a wonderful person who earned the respect of all veteran
organisations. His spontaneous contact with us, his interest in our organisation
and the assistance he gave at times was very special and are reasons for
our great admiration and loyalty to him. Your Majesty has suffered an
immense personal loss but you can be comforted in the knowledge that Prince
Bernhard was an exceptionally fine person, a noble gentleman and a loving
father and grandfather to his family.
Your
Majesty, at this time of grief and mourning, please draw strength from
the memories of the very special life that you shared with your father.
You and the Royal Family are in our thoughts and prayers.
The
Royal Air Forces Association mourns with you.
